CRIMINAL INTENT, PRIVATE SECURITY & HOCKEY PIZZA
TODAY’S PODCAST was originally broadcast by WPVM 103.7fm on Friday, March 03, 2023, and features a very creepy and scary cautionary tale from Chef Jamie Wade of Sand Hill Kitchen, and Asheville Food & Beverage United updates from Jen Hampton!
Jen and I also chat about the proposals from the Chamber of Commerce to create 3 “Business Improvement Districts” in Downtown Asheville, The River Arts District, and West Asheville. In between all that, I had time to chat with April Moon Harper from Sunny Point Cafe about their new Rabbit Hole bakery, and I also review the food at Rabbit Hole (spoiler… it was fucking great!). I also ordered a pizza from Del Vecchios just like I promised!
DEL VECCHIO’S: My family ordered a couple pies from Del Vecchios for hockey night last night and it was great! We had to force ourselves to stop eating it, because we were stuffed but still eating! The sauce is really garlicky & tasty.
The Red Wings lost to the Lightning, but my sister is a Bruins fan, and not only did they beat The Canucks, but their goalie scored a goal! That is incredibly rare in hockey and it was the first time in Bruins’ history! Pretty cool. Anyhoo, pizza and hockey. Life is rich. ❤️
SAND HILL KITCHEN: Please follow Chef Jamie Wade on Sand Hill Kitchen’s new Instagram page, and please listen to her segment of the podcast if you want to hear a harrowing tale of crime, intimidation, deceit, greed, and pure malice that is sure to send a shiver up your spine. Don’t let it happen to you!
Team SHK posts their yummy specials on Instagram every day, plus other great pics, so follow their new account, eat their insanely good food, support a local business, and show Chef Jamie some social media love when she really needs it.
RABBIT HOLE: Big news, everyone! Sunny Point Café has opened a small bakery café behind the restaurant called Rabbit Hole Asheville, and it’s frickin’ awesome! There’s a little bit of indoor seating, a bunch of outdoor seating, and a sort of quasi-outdoor area to sit in, that can also be rented for events. I went with my mom at the invitation of my friend Alice, who is the gardener and social media person for Sunny Point! I also ran into co-owner April, who was very excited about this new addition to their business! I had the pleasure of meeting the staff, and my mom and I tried about eight different, sweet and savory treats.
Everything was excellent, and the staff were kind enough to heat everything up for us, so it was nice & warm & delicious. The blueberry sour cream coffee cake, as well as the almond croissant, were super star standouts! Get those first… then get literally everything else! 😂
The design of the building, the grounds, and the decor, both inside and out are incredibly cute and appealing to the eye, and in addition to the food and coffee, there’s a small area with kitchen items, jams, and Sunny Point products for sale. Again, everything we ate was excellent, and I am very excited for this wonderful new spot to grab coffee, treats, and/or a loaf of bread in West Asheville! If you are a fan of Sunny Point, and I know I am, you’re gonna love Rabbit Hole.
